I discovered that there was no toilet paper in the boys’ bathroom. I discovered this when I overheard them snickering about clogging up the toilet with tissues. I suppose I should be grateful that any sort of wiping was happening.
Me: How long have you been out of toilet paper.
Them: Shrug.
I went into the bathroom to investigate, open up cabinet beneath the sink and discover this:

And now I know why I worry about them out in the real world. Did they really not think to look under the sink? Did they know but not care enough to do it? Is it really possible that there will one day come a time when it’s clear to me that they will survive in the wild and have the skills that elude them? Will they really ever be able to replace a roll of toilet paper, hang up a wet towel, and even reach the holy grail of bathroom chores —- wipe the toothpaste out of the sink?
I don’t have any answers. But it hurts my head to think about it.
