I have been listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell today, which is what I was listening to when Bennett was born, ten years ago. After six relatively fast and civilized hours, he arrived, to the lovely sounds of “Blue.” M says that as soon as he was born, I looked up and said, “That was fun! Let’s do it again!” I don’t remember that, but it must have been somewhat fun because we went and did it another four times.
Everyone has told me that the first ten years go by relatively slowly, and after ten you blink and your baby is graduating. From college. And I fear this may be true. I can feel time speeding up.
So, in a week of medical mishaps, meltdowns, and the insanity of Passover prep (I’m too embarrassed to even go into the details of what we endure), it’s good to take a moment and be grateful for this decade of adventures.
Happy birthday Bennett.
